From November 12 to 13, the second forum on the protection and inheritance of "Chinese sericulture and silk weaving skills" was held in Chengdu. The conference discussed the current situation and Sustainable Development Countermeasures of the protection and inheritance of "Chinese sericulture and silk weaving skills".

Sponsored by the Ministry of silk and Sichuan silk brocade, Sichuan Provincial silk brocade Association and Sichuan Provincial Silk Brocade Museum.

The meeting was presided over by Zhao Feng, curator of China Silk Museum. Xie Haiyin, the second level inspector of the Department of culture and tourism of Sichuan Province, Li Huaxin, director of the comprehensive Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of culture and tourism, Chen Xiangping, vice president of China Silk Association and President of Sichuan Silk Association, were invited to the meeting for guidance.

Xie Haiyin said that the meeting will effectively promote the exchange, interaction and cooperation between the protection forces of China's sericulture and silk weaving skills, and provide new programs and experience for the implementation of human intangible cultural heritage projects. He hopes that through the protection practice of various places, the unique skills of craftsmanship can be inherited, the silkworm custom that nourishes the spirit can be revived, based on the needs of the contemporary people, focusing on the application of contemporary life, developing the application of silk fabrics in contemporary life, and restoring the position of silk weaving technology in current life. Let "Chinese sericulture and silk weaving skills" become a national brand in the inheritance and development, go to the world, "inherit for the nation, innovate for life".

Li Huaxin stressed that the development of intangible cultural heritage projects should not "develop on the basis of development", but should be based on the intangible cultural heritage projects themselves, strengthen the links between intangible cultural heritage projects, and strengthen sustainable development from the perspective of promoting the high-quality development of the "belt and road" initiative.

Chen Xiangping introduced Sichuan and the origin of silk, Sichuan brocade and Silk Road, and the development of silk industry in Sichuan. He also expounded the important contribution of silk weaving technology to the development of the industry, the important influence of silk culture on human civilization, and the far-reaching influence of Silk Road on history, economy and culture.

Li Jin, a professor of Sichuan University, discusses the history of Shu brocade with the title of history and future: Sichuan brocade on the Silk Road, and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions on the future development trend of traditional silk weaving techniques. Bamotrubmo, a researcher at the Institute of ethnic literature, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, gave special guidance on the concept of sustainable development and the protection of intangible culture.

The participants also had in-depth exchanges on the project protection measures, inheritors and training, protection funds, communication, marketization and inheritance interaction, and visited Chengdu Shu brocade weaving and embroidery Museum.

On September 30, 2009, the "silk weaving skills of China" and "Nanjing brocade weaving techniques" including "Shu brocade weaving techniques" were included in the UNESCO "representative works list of intangible cultural heritage of mankind". On May 31, 2019, the "China sericulture and silk weaving technology" Protection Alliance was established in China Silk Museum. Its members include members of the above two world heritage projects and some national textile intangible cultural heritage projects, three universities carrying out textile "research and training program", an Internet intangible cultural heritage platform, and an ecological protection area for sericulture inheritance.

Sichuan is one of the birthplaces of China's silk. During the Warring States period, Shu brocade has become an important trade product, and thus opened up the Southern Silk Road starting from Chengdu. The city of Jin was known as "the city of Shu" for its "rich brocade" in the Han Dynasty
