The development of the production field allows the country to produce 200 million pairs of leather shoes every year by 2020, with an export volume of 50 million pairs, creating 12000 jobs.

Business models in this area need to be changed.

At present, 99% of the production of leather shoes refers directly to the domestic market, and we need to reduce the figure to 60%.

We need 15% of shoes produced by Argentina manufacturers as luxury goods, and 25% directly refer to other countries in our region and emerging markets all over the world.

The minister said that encouraging companies to develop in the direction of integration to produce leather and finished products is part of this initiative.

Throughout the industry, discussions will continue until August 31, 2011, and all major companies run through the supply chain discuss the establishment of strategic alliances to promote the growth of leather and footwear industry.
