Pakistan Textile Industry Begins Protests Today
The textile industry in Punjab, Pakistan, announced that it will start from Wednesday.
Since December 25th, the supply of natural gas in Punjab's industrial and self power plants (CPPS) has been cut off, and SNGPL does not consider restoring gas supply this month.
"We have no choice but to go to the streets to protest and fight for the basic management rights of our factory," said Ahsan Bashir, chairman of the Pakistan Textile Industry Association Punjab branch, on Tuesday. Our protests will continue until we restore factory gas supply. "
The participants in the protest were free owners and textile workers.
People in the industry say they have lost millions of dollars in export orders due to energy shortages. The textile and garment industry lost orders due to the fact that they could not deliver the goods within the time limit for shipment. The shortage of natural gas has led to the loss of regional competitiveness of Pakistan's textile industry, and orders have been diverted to India, Bangladesh and other parts of Asia.
