At the beginning of its birth, it was considered to be the mitigation technology of the standard Adidas Boost, and Nike React has begun to scale production.

According to the world clothing shoes and hats net, in January 23rd,

Nike

Officially released this foam technology.

Soles technology is considered to be the core of sports shoes technology. Before that, Nike's outstanding product was the Nike Air air cushion.

But this time, the US brand did not choose to dig deep into the air cushion technology, but developed a technology called Nike React for foam sole technology.

Design

The team said that the new technology has four characteristics: Nike's lightest cotton foam so far can provide more effective cushioning, good energy feedback and durable material.

In June 2017, after the release of Nike React technology, it was first applied to basketball products, including Nike Hyperdunk 2017 and Jordan Super Fly 2017 two basketball shoes.

In contrast, previous basketball shoes only built Nike React into the soles, while the newly released Nike Epic React Flyknit was improved. The whole middle sole consisted of a whole block of Nike React foam, without any supporting structures, adhesives or glue and so on, so as to reduce the weight of shoes as much as possible.

As the vamp is fixed on a whole piece of foam and the outsole is basically the same as the middle sole, the designer adds two rubber layers to the forefoot and heel part of the outsole to enhance grip and durability.

Nike said that because Nike React foam is softer than previous EVA based foam, it can reduce the discomfort caused by uneven pavement.

At the same time, because the soles are softer, the sole of the running shoes must be designed thicker and wider to avoid the foot touching the bottom, so as to provide a support foundation.

Therefore, designers extend the midsole to the heel to enhance the cushioning effect and stability of shoes. Adidas Boost also uses this design.

As for the appearance of Nike Epic React Flyknit's shoe upper, Nike has adopted a minimalist design style.

The designer continues to use the integrated Nike Flyknit shoe upper design to enhance the fit of the front, toe and foot arches and feet, and give consideration to flexibility and breathability.

Nike footwear innovation director Ernest Kim

Nike Sports Research Laboratory said that the contrast test showed that Nike React foam increased 13% energy feedback and springback than Nike's latest generation of Nike Lunarlon foam.

"I want to emphasize this point because we are not comparing Nike React technology with some of the obsolete cotton foam, but we are comparing it with Lunarlon. Although the standard setting is very high, Nike React technology can still provide more energy feedback for each step," explains Ernest Kim, Nike innovation director of running footwear products.

Prior to this, Nike CEO Mark Parker (Mark Parker) has revealed that the brand is accelerating the pace of innovation and will launch new concepts and products in the second half of the fiscal year. Nike React products are one of the cushioning materials.

With the coming of this summer, Nike claims that Nike React will be the next key product to break through the $1 billion revenue.

In addition, Nike's mechanical shock mitigation technology Nike Shox is expected to improve its return this year.

This spring shoe technology, which was born in the late 1990s, was once popular. However, with the technological innovation of soles, mechanical shock was gradually forgotten.

It is reported that Nike will find the three designers who originally participated in the design, trying to pform Nike Shox and return to it with a brand new image.

As an improved version of classic technology, Nike Shox Gravity is expected to be launched in 2018.

Obviously, after two years of performance bottlenecks, Nike has realized the importance of product innovation, which is expected to compete with Adidas Boost.

In fact, in 2013, when Adidas released Boost in New York fashion week, the technology was five years old in 2018.

During the period, both the German brand running shoes and the NMD global explosion were the revival of Adidas in recent years. Boost technology, which spanned professional sports and daily fashion, was considered to be a success.

By contrast, Nike uses air cushions and ZoomX technology to match Adidas Boost on running shoes and basketball products, but the result is not always satisfactory.

Can Nike Epic React Flyknit help Nike "revolution"? At least this is not an easy thing.
