Costa Juliana Solomon, a clothing company who has worked with a fur business in China for 5 years, said that because of raw materials from China, the fur business of the company will not be transferred from China. Cooperation with Chinese partners has proved fruitful. Solomon now travels to China almost every month, and plans to transfer her purchasing business from South Asia to China.
Lu Sheng, an assistant professor of University of Delaware, recently launched a survey with the American fashion industry association on a survey of large and medium-sized fashion brands, retailers, importers and wholesalers in the US. The report shows that the US tariff increases will not shake the position of China's textile and apparel industry as the main supplier of the United States.
Julia Hughes, President of the American fashion industry association, said that the industry has been talking about the global supply chain, which is one of the biggest advantages of China's textile and garment industry, and is also the reason for Chinese related enterprises to become the top suppliers. China is expected to maintain this position in this field.
China's textile and garment industry is also moving to the upstream of the industrial chain while under external pressure. A large number of Chinese textile and garment enterprises in Southeast Asia, central and South America and Africa and other places, and imported raw materials from China.
Lu Sheng told reporters that apart from the advantages of scale, China's textile and garment industry can provide multiple products, and China's advantages are obvious. In addition, the industry is also making progress. Many enterprises are considering how to make profits by building their own brands.
At the same time, fierce global competition is also promoting the Chinese textile and garment industry in the direction of "science, technology, fashion and green". The capability of enterprises in environmental protection, small batch production, fast delivery and other aspects has been significantly improved, and the investment and R & D of new products and new technologies have been constantly increasing.
Xu Yingxin, vice president of China Textile Industry Federation, said during the exhibition that Chinese suppliers are actively improving their automation and intelligence level through technological innovation and building their own brands to enhance the added value of products.
Analysts believe that China's textile and garment industry will still maintain strong international competitiveness as China's domestic demand continues to grow and the industry strengthens its cooperation with the "one belt and one way" in building national and regional cooperation.
