Attention: Cotton Production And Quality In The United States In Recent Years

 

 

1. San Joaquin Valley or SJV cotton

 

Plantation: San Joaquin Valley, California.

    

Special points: the proportion of high-grade cotton is large, the quality of cotton is the best, the price of the same grade is the most expensive, the average length is above 1-1 / 8 ', the average fiber strength is 32 GPT, the evenness is higher than 82%, 80% of the output is above M grade, and most of the cotton is exported.  

 

2. California / Arizona cotton (C / a cotton)

 

Plantations: California and Arizona and New Mexico.

 

Special points: the average length is higher than 1-1 / 8 ', the micronaire value is between 4.4 and 4.6, the average strength is more than 31gpt, 90% is higher than SLM, most of them are exported overseas.  

 

(Note: cotton production in the above two regions accounts for about 12% of the total cotton production.)  

 

3. East / Memphis cotton (E / M)

 

Planting areas: Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, etc.

 

Special points: the yield accounts for more than half of the total cotton production in the United States, with an average length of 1-3 / 32 ', micronaire value of 4.4-4.6, average strength slightly higher than 28gpt, 75% higher than SLM. Most of these cotton are used for ring spinning to produce cotton yarn with 6-40 yarns.

 

4. O / t cotton

 

Plantations: Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

 

Special points: the output accounts for more than 35% of the total output of the United States, and the length is less than 1-1 / 16 ". The micronaire value is between 3.8 and 4.4, and the average strength is not less than 29gpt. 90% is used for export, and 60% is higher than SLM. It is mainly used for rotor spinning.

 

5. Puma cotton / super long staple cotton

 

Plantations: Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California.

 

Special points: almost all of them are used for export, and the output has reached 150000 tons. About 90% of Puma cotton exceeds the puma cotton secondary standard specified by the U.S. Department of agriculture. The average fiber length of Puma cotton is nearly 1-7 / 16 ', and the average fiber strength is about 40gpt. It can be used for ring spinning to produce cotton yarn with 60 yarns and higher yarns. It is traded at cash price and has little impact on the New York Futures price, In recent years, puma cotton production has been gradually transferred from El Paso, Texas and Arizona to San Joaquin Valley in California, and the unit yield has been greatly improved. All puma cotton is processed by roller gin.

In recent years, the United States has made a lot of efforts in cotton breeding, production and picking. Through scientific breeding, precision processing and quality testing, the investment can be minimized, and the yield and quality of cotton can be improved to produce better cotton. Through AFIS test, the short fiber content of American cotton is only 9%.  

PBI label of American cotton: each package of cotton produced in the United States will be tested separately by the system. Each package of cotton has its unique "identification mark". PBI label is used to identify the cotton planting area and its indicators including fiber length, strength, color and micronaire value. Based on the permanent identification mark on each bale, the system will collect all the data information.

The overall quality of American cotton is better than that of domestic cotton, especially in the aspect of non foreign fiber, which is recognized by Chinese textile enterprises.
