According to Bangladesh Business Standards on January 20, when delivering a speech at the fourth Bangladesh 2023 Global Cotton Summit (January 20), Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tip Munsh stressed that, on the one hand, Bangladesh is the second largest garment exporter in the world, importing large quantities of cotton from different countries every year. On the other hand, the United States is the largest cotton exporter and the largest export market of Bangladesh ready to wear. Bangladesh garment industry needs 9 million bales of raw cotton every year, while the domestic annual output is only 150000 bales, accounting for 1.6% of the total demand. If the United States approves the tax exemption measures for Bangladesh's cotton imports from the United States, Bangladesh's garment industry will benefit.

Helen LaFave, Charg é d'affaires ad interim of the United States Embassy, and Jeremy Bruer, High Commissioner of the Australian Embassy attended the above activities.
