Before using fluorine free water repellent, the fabric should be pretreated to fully remove the antistatic agent, oil and other impurities on the fabric. Because the antistatic agent is a hydrophilic material, it will reduce the water pumping effect of the fabric, and it is not washable at the same time; However, if the oil is not removed cleanly, the water absorption of the fabric will be poor, so that the liquid carrying rate of the fabric in the process of rapid padding working fluid is low, and it is difficult to achieve satisfactory water pumping effect. In addition, pre-treatment auxiliaries and leveling agents are hydrophilic substances, which will increase the surface tension of the fabric after drying and affect the water pumping effect. Therefore, the pretreatment auxiliaries and leveling agents on the fabric should be cleaned before finishing.  

In addition, other additives also have a certain impact on the fluoride free water pumping effect. For example, the main components of ordinary penetrants are hydrophilic substances, which cannot be volatilized during the fiber drying process and remain on the cloth surface, increasing the hydrophilicity of the cloth surface, thus reducing the water pumping effect. Adding a non rewetting penetrant, such as isopropanol, to the working fluid can improve the permeability of the cloth surface. At the same time, under the baking condition, the moisture will volatilize and will not remain on the cloth surface. When the amount is appropriate, the water pumping efficiency will not be reduced. The ordinary softener will affect the continuous hydrophobic layer formed by the fluorine free water repellent on the fabric, and the residue on the cloth will affect the hydrophobic property of the fabric, thus reducing the water repellent effect. Special softeners containing hydrophobic groups can be selected. The molecular weight of such softeners is appropriate, and the proper dosage will not significantly affect the continuous hydrophobic layer formed on the fabric by the fluorine free water repellent, so the water repellent effect will not be significantly reduced.
